The ocean is a source of life, one of the most mysterious places on Earth.

The infinite blue energy of the deep and breathtaking views of the ocean have brought a colossal change to our lives and moved us beyond words.

At the same time, the vastness of the ocean provide contemporary artists with various visual, sensual, and cultural inspiration.

The 2023 National Maritime Museum Exhibition features stories of the ocean told by 10 contemporary artists KANG Yo-Bae, KONG Sung-Hun,

KIM Chong-Hak, KIM Do-Young, KIM25, BANG Jeong-A, SONG Sung-Jin, YOO Hye-Sook, CHOI Sun, and HEO Byung-Chan

expressed through 25 pieces including painting, visual media, and art installations.

Through pieces expressing contemporary artists' perspectives towards the ocean, this exhibition presents concepts of marine art

and conveys messages of coexistence by connoting the relationship between mankind and the ocean.

Furthermore, we hope that this exhibition broadens peoples' interest and understanding of the ocean

and provides opportunity to think about conservation and sustainability of marine ecosystems.

The National Maritime Museum welcomes you to its very first art exhibition, in hopes of raising 'New Waves.'
