A marked release survey investigates the amount of a fishery resource by tagging and releasing fish, then recapturing them after a certain period.

Comparison of such data as size, age, quantity, and location between time of release

and time of recapture allows data interpretation on matters like distribution,

migratory routes, migration rate, growth rate, capture rate, and effectieness of release.

This is a poster informing fishermen to report recaptured tagged fish,

as the Central Fisheries Experiment Station (present-day National Fisheries Research & Development Agency) is

carrying out a marking experiment on major species, such as yellow corvina and squid.

The term pyoshikbangryu” (tag & release) is another term for such marking surveys.

The poster also denotes tagged fish aspyo dan kogi (fish with a mak)” and squid (ojingeo) as “ojeungo,” an old term for squid.
